About The Band
The Shirley Band is a competitive, traditional British style brass band based in Shirley, in the Borough of Solihull, West Midlands. With more than a century of musical excellence, the band continues to find fresh and engaging ways to bring the rich, unmistakable sound of the brass band to audiences across the region.
The Shirley Band enjoys a varied and well balanced calendar of performances each year. In recent seasons, we have developed a highly successful concert series, introducing a range of themed concerts featuring a mix of well known classics, new compositions, and contemporary repertoire to its audiences.
Beyond our own concert series, the band performs at events throughout the region. From formal concert halls to community celebrations, we are proud to support local organisations, charities and activities that bring people together through music.
As a contesting band, we currently compete in the First Section of the national brass band championships. We maintain a strong commitment to musical excellence through regular rehearsals, focused development, and a healthy balance of concerts and contests throughout the year.
